QUICK TIPS ON HOW TO STOP BITING YOUR CUTICLES OR FINGERNAILS

Nail or cuticle biting is a little bit of OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder).  If you or anyone you know has this tendency,  here are two simple tips you can try to break this habit.

Possessed nervousness, some people will resort to various ways to ease their stress like tug portions of hair and stroke their upper lips with it.

My colleague's daughter would pull out strands of her eyebrow hair that she has bald spots.  Luckily, she is able to cover it up with eyebrow pencils.

Then there is a nine year old girl who chewed her hair until she had stomach cramps.  She had to undergo surgery where they found a BALL OF HAIR in her stomach!

People will also bite their nails or chew on their cuticle when they are nervous or absorbed in mulling over a problem.  Experts call it "Onychophagia or  "Onychoplhagy"

An effective trick that my friend taught me to stop chomping on nails is that she keeps a small bottle of cuticle oil in her purse.  She will rub it on her cuticle every time she feels the urge to bite them.  Another way is that she goes for a manicure on a regular basis.

Spending hard earned money on your nails may act as a deterrent to nail biting too.

Good Luck and may you have beautiful and healthy fingernails.

GIGGLES

A young child purely giggles
at the slightest reason, tickles
the sound is full of joy
when playing with a toy

Free from any inhibitions
or pre-conceived perceptions

adopting and absorbing
what grown ups say and do.......
