Here a list of foods that you can add to your daily diet to keep your body young and healthy.



KIWIS


Kiwis are fruits packed with vitamin E.  Vitamin E is essential to protect our cell membranes and to prevent our collagen being damaged by exposure to UV rays.

Oysters are one of the richest source of zinc which is known to maintain the collagen so that our skin will stay firm and young.  Zinc is the essential nutrient that encourages the renewal of skin cell.  

However,  if you dislike the briny taste of oysters, opt for turkey meat which is also very high in zinc content.






SALMON

Salmon possesses high levels of Omega-3 Fatty Acids.  These are healthy fats that protects our cells from being attacked by free radicals and at the same time allow nutrients in.  Another reason to consume salmon is that it contains DHA which is known to boost your immune system and fight skin cancer.

Studies have shown that the Japanese daily diet that consist of salmon, tuna, sardines and other  fish that are rich in Omega-3 resulted in low incidence of coronary heart diseases. Therefore, regular intake of salmon will also help to protect your heart.

Selenium is an antioxidant that is found to be the highest in Brazil nuts.  

According to Joy Bauer, author of Joy Bauer's Food Cures, selenium inhibits aging by protecting your skin's elasticity and also can help to reverse sun damage.










WHOLE-GRAIN CEREAL

To keep a healthy head of lustrous hair, eat whole-grain cereal as it is a good source of B vitamins-folate, B6 and B12.  They promote the production of red blood cells which carry oxygen and nutrients to your scalp and hair follicles.  

If your body is deficient in Vitamin B, those cells can starve, cause breakage, slow growth and even hair loss.

The beta carotene in butternut squash or any other orange-hued foods such as sweet potatoes, pumpkins and carrots are beneficial to hair growth.  

Deficiency in this vitamin can lead to dry and dull hair as well as dandruff.













LEAN BEEF

Beef contains a high level of keratin, a large family of proteins that is responsible for hair's texture, shine and thickness.  

Insufficient keratin in our bodies will result in dull looking and unhealthy tresses.







GREEN TEA

If you have dandruff, try washing your hair with water steeped in green tea.  The tea helps to regulate a protein in your body that controls the life cycle of skin cells, which, when overproduced, result in flaky dead skin.









LEMONS AND LIMES





These are citrus fruits that is becomes alkaline when it is consumed and metabolise in our bodies.  They help to destroy any harmful bacteria.

Squeeze a slice of lemon or lime in a glass of water and by drinking it daily will also neutralize the acidity in your skin, and boost collagen production.

MILK

Low fat milk is rich in Vitamin D.  It is vital to keep our teeth and jawbones strong and healthy.  

Calcium deficiency can cause periodontal disease, which can affect your gums and tooth enamel by erosion.













BELL PEPPERS

Bell peppers contain a very high level of Vitamin C which is essential to strengthen our blood vessels, as well as our connective tissue that holds our teeth in our jaw.  Consuming bell peppers regularly can prevent periodontal disease and gingivitis.








CHEWING GUM


Choose sugarless chewing gum.  The chewing action will increase the production of saliva that will help to protect our toot enamel by acting as a barrier between teeth and food acids.

I save the best for last.  Dessert.  Feast your eyes on the drawing below.  It will not make you fat, is calorie free and the next best thing to the real McCoy.
