Do you know how to determine the shape of your face? Did you know that there are eight common face shapes? Does your face shape change over the years? Read on to find out more.
When I was young and slim, my face looked oval. Then as the years go by, added weight has made my face shape round.
Not only weight can change your face shape. Facial bones will also continue to change as we grow older. This includes our eye sockets, nose and upper jaw.
As an example, our eye sockets will enlarge, the angle of the bones beneath our eyebrows will decrease. This could contribute to the formation of frown lines on our foreheads. Not only that, 'crow's feet' will develop at the corners of our eyes and droop lower.

Other possible reasons your face shape has changed is because of hormone fluctuations or illness. That is why we may have to update our hairstyles to follow the change of our face shape.

So how do you determine your current face shape?
a)By Looking At The Stars....
I don't mean to study astronomy but by comparing pictures of similar age celebrities and a recent photo of your face to get an idea which face group you belong to. Collect and cut celebrity pictures from magazines or download, if it's online to your phone.
b)By The Scientific Way
How to measure your face
Some of you who are more analytically inclined, please take out your tape measure and follow the steps below.
1. Start by measuring your face across the top of your cheekbones. Note down the measurement on a piece of paper.
2. Then measure across your jaw line from the widest point to the widest point. Note down the measurement.
3. Next, measure across your forehead at the widest point. Usually, the widest point will be somewhere about halfway between your eyebrows and your hairline. Jot down the measurement.
4. Lastly, measure from the tip of your headline to the bottom of your chin.
Tip
If you are still unsure of the results, ask a close friend to help you determine your shape. Or you can ask your stylist. Remember that everyone will have their own opinion. Should you get mixed opinions, ask several people until you get a majority vote on what face shape you have.
Too complicated??

Cut two holes for the eyes.
Place it on your face to see if it conforms.
Still too complicated???
d) By The Easiest 1,2 Way
1. Use a hairband or grip to keep hair away from your face.
3. Make a copies of your face on paper.
4. Draw different shapes onto the outline of your face with a black magic marker.
Voila! You now know your face shape.

Halle Berry doesn't have a pear shaped face.
ReplyDeleteHello Barbara Paula Acosta,
DeleteThank you for commenting. In your opinion, what would be Halle Berry's face shape?
Hi! So I have noticed people's assessment of oval face shapes is mostly off the mark. The oval face shape is supposed to have lateral facial symmetry and both Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez have really angular jawlines to meet this this criteria. If anything Drew Barrymore has more of an oval shape (no way hers is round its too long to be round). However faces that look like perfect ovals: Melissa Peterman, Katrina Kaif, Bellamy Young (she has a peak to her hairline but still her face looks quite oval), Charlize Theron's is kind of oval and is somewhere between an oval and round. Jessica Alba would be a cross between triangle and long and Jennifer Lopez is more of a heart shape.
