56) LOSE THESE HABITS

Plumeria Flower, daphadales, Exotic, Flower, flowers, hawaii, India, Nature, roseDo you currently have bad habits that are preventing you from moving forward and be productive? As the saying goes, "We are what we repeatedly do." Did you do something in the past or maybe very recently that you now regret?

Start by listing down bad habits and work at removing it from your life this year. Well, to be exact, you have 6 more months to go to get rid of the bad habits.

Here are 10 bad habits to lose. If you say that you don't have any bad habits, you may not be human or you are in denial.

1. Are you a perfectionist?

A perfect snowflake
The sooner you drop the perfectionist mind set, the soon you will get results because you have taken action. Being perfect hinders your ability to move forward because you become paralyzed with the thought of failing. Accept that it is alright to continue moving even though something is imperfect. The key is you are taking necessary steps and remember that you can find a solution along the way.

2. Are you too serious?

People who are serious tend to wear a frown on their faces all the time. Not only other people will tend to run away when they see you coming, wrinkles will form on your face even faster. Have a lighter attitude and don't be too hard on yourself. Remember that one of the most important way to happiness is to laugh at yourself more and not take life too seriously. By smiling and laughing more, you will make more friends and have a happier and meaningful life.

3. Are you a negative thinker?

Your favorite words are No, I can't, I don't, I won't...... All these words promote negative thought and energy. Consciously make a decision to change the words to I can, I do, I will removes the negative voice that is constantly putting you down when you err. You are not doing yourself any favors by constantly insulting yourself in your mind. You have created more negativity to self sabotage your every action and goals.

4. Lack of confidence in yourself

You tend to listen and follow other peoples' views. It can sometimes be useful to seek another person's advise but be careful as the advise may just backfire. Remember that your self value should not be based on what other people may think of you. Yes, do get feedback, but you are in control of your life and you have the final say. Don't live your life according to what others dictate or want. Do it because you made the decision.

5. Do you sleep a lot?

There is such a thing as oversleeping. It is counter-productive because when you sleep too much, instead of feeling well rested, you feel groggy and fatigued. Limit your sleep to a minimum of 6 hours and not to exceed 8 hours. You will notice that as a result, you have more energy and time to do things.

6. Are you a "Yes" person?

Do you never refuse a request no matter how busy you are or how inconvenient or taxing it will be for you to fulfill a request? You are being a people pleaser and you try to please everyone but at your own expense.  Learn to say no and begin to value your time. Do not be afraid to say no every now and then as your friends will still like you.  In fact, they will respect you for standing up for your right to have enough time to rest and recharge your batteries, so to speak.

7. Are you a juggler?

To be able to multi-task may get more work done but you are sacrificing quality for quantity. The effective way is to fully focus on do one thing at a time and do it really well. In this way, you are more productive and your bosses will love you for your quality of work and in half the time.

8. Are you high strung?

If you equate stress with being hardworking, you have adopted and unhealthy attitude towards stress. In the corporate world, you may be convinced to admire people who are 'stressed'. This is a misconception  that you have to be stressed in order to succeed. There are many highly effective people who have achieved great success without being highly stressed. Gandhi was an example of a gentle and relaxed super achiever. This is one of the profound quotes by Mahatma Gandhi:-

"Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Yours words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny."

Warren Buffet is ranked the third richest man in the world by Forbes. He may be a billionaire but he does not own a cellphone or a computer and he still  drives around in his Cadillac DTS and  stays in a modest home.
These are a few of his famous quotes:-

"The rich invest in time, the poor invest in money."

"Without passion, you don't have energy. Without energy, you have nothing."

"I get to do what I like to do every single day of the year."

9. Are you a chatterbox?

Do you talk non-stop that the other person cannot get half a word in? You need to stop talking and start listening. To be an effective communicator, you have to be a very good listener. Take the time to listen intently to others especially your customers. You can then understand their needs much quicker. Not only that you will build a valuable rapport with your clients. Listening is an underrated communication tool, so learn to use it.

7. Energy suckers

These are people who are negative in their thoughts, their words and their outlook on life. They literally suck all of your positive energy, leaving you drained out and unproductive. Keep away from such negative people. Instead surround yourself with positive highly effective people.
