In computer security, a hacker is someone who focuses on security mechanisms of computer and network systems. A hacker of life however, is someone who is skillful in maneuvering the complicated mazes of humanity to his advantage by gaining wisdom through the experiences and challenges.

These are ways that will make you a skillful hacker. All you need is realization, determination focus and the willingness to move forward.

1. Make a change...Now is a good time

This means to change your attitude. Often people have pre-conceived ideas about happiness, only to discover even if they attain that goal, there are even more pre-conditions to happiness. We experience a temporary 'high' and when we get what we want, we will quickly return to the same line of thoughts unless we change our thinking habits. If you tend to see the glass as half empty, you will continue to be no matter what happens on the outside, unless you change from the inside. Real attitude change must start from the inside out.

2. Learn from your regrets, instead of letting yourself being stuck in the past.

Very often, we use a traumatic memory as a crutch instead of as a guide post. Realize and accepting what was done is done, and you cannot change it now. By taking it as life lessons will improve your life. Failure should be seen as feedback, not as a yardstick to measure your self worth. Regrets can help to push you forward, give you wisdom and help you develop deeper empathy for others. Regrets can give us many useful lessons to build a better life as long as you do not wallow in self pity, jealousy or hate. Forgiving yourself is the first step towards change. Look at regrets as stepping stones towards a better future, instead of big rocks to carry in your emotional baggage. We are all works in progress.

3. Education does not end once you leave school

Life is all about learning. We learn in school to read and write but the teaching are base on what is in textbooks and exams. The school of life is a whole different ball game where no one book can teach you all the life's lessons. It will take a lifetime of learning before you can graduate. Many don't but knowing that you have done your best to constantly learn and grow is the best lessons of all. Even if the lessons are something you never wanted to learn, you will forge ahead in the forward direction.

4. Honesty is the best policy

Honesty is a virtue that is overrated as the most honest person are often the biggest liars to themselves.  They self sabotage with negative self talk such as they are not good enough, not smart enough, not attractive enough, so much so that they feel at times like 'failures'. The inner voice is hard to shut up, especially if you learned early in your life those messages that were judgmental and critical. People who lie to themselves accept fiction as the fact. By changing your self talk from statements like "I should be moving further along in my life than now" to " I am not satisfied with where I am in my life, and I have learned many lessons to build on and make different decisions now".

5. Practice Forgiveness

When you give up the bitterness you harbor that eats at your soul, you are robbing yourself out of happiness in life. Forgiveness does not mean approving un
healthy behaviour. People are not born evil but the paths they choose will mould their unhealthy behaviour. Seeing the behaviour as "unhealthy" rather than "bad", can free you of the resentment and bitterness. Whether it is your colleagues, friends or even your parents or as a result of a bitter break up, forgiveness will help you open up your he
art to try once more. Remember, the most important person to forgive is yourself, and always keep in mind you are a work in progress.
