84) HOW TO APPLY MAKEUP FOR A NIGHT OUT IN 20 MINUTES

You have plans for a romantic dinner with your special someone...........

Gorgeous and glittery LBD (little black dress) check.! Sleek hair, check. Killer shoes, check! Stylish handbag, double check! Makeup....Big question mark??

Here are 15 steps to do your own makeup and get the total look when it comes to dressing up.  Difficulty is average and requires 20 minutes.

Step One

Gently exfoliate your skin with an exfoliating liquid to remove dead skin cells.  Foundation will go on more smoothly when your skin is soften.  Dead skin will only make the foundation patchy.

Step Two

To reduce puffiness to the eye area, apply a cold compress or used tea bags.

Step Three

Dab moisturizer to plump up any fine lines especially at the eye and lip corners. For best results, apply moisturizer 20 minutes earlier.

Step Four

Apply Primer.  Primers helps your make up to stay on longer.

Once primer has set, d
ot a cream foundation and blend with a blending sponge or clean fingertips on uneven skin tone areas

To know more about primers, check out my upcoming topic, "How to use a makeup primer."

Step Five

Use a concealer that is one shade darker than your skin tone to cover any blemishes
or dark circles using your finger tips.

Step Six

Use a touch of highlighter to the top of the cheeks and temple area for that healthy glow.

Step Seven

Snip off any stray hairs from brows and add some eyebrow color to fill in any gaps.
I find that powdered eyebrow gives a more natural look compared to pencil which may make you look fierce or Opera-ish.

Step Eight

Blush just below the cheek bones for that rosy tint.

Step Nine

This is when you apply eyeshadow. For a night out, choose a smoky look. Here are two examples.

Step Ten

Next is the eyeliner. You can choose pencil, liquid or roll out liners.

Personally I like roll out liners. The best thing is that you don't need to sharpen it.

Step Eleven

Use a lash curler to curl your lashes or you can also choose to apply mascara first.
Let it dry and then curl the lashes.  There is no hard and fast rules.

Step Twelve

With a zig zag motion, apply mascara on lashes.  Once dry, curl again to make eyes look bigger. Remove any clumps.

Choose waterproof mascara to avoid smudging and getting raccoon eyes if your skin tend to be oily.

Swipe on your favorite lipstick or lipgloss.  For a lasting lip color, apply lipliner over lips before putting  lipstick.

Step Fourteen

With a fluffy brush, set makeup with a little loose powder.

Step Fifteen

Add more blush if necessary.

Tips

  • To use highlighter, you need just a touch to be effective.
  • To brighten your skin, exfoliate before applying makeup.
  • Use a white pencil at the inner corner of eyes to make it look bigger.
  • To keep your eyeliner from smearing, use a Q-tip and some brow eyeshadow and swipe over the eyeliner.
  • Slide the wand out of the tube instead of pumping it. Pumping will introduce air into the tube and dries out the mascara.
