148) HOW TO WEAR FALSE EYELASHES

Celebrities use it and ordinary women use it, too.  False eyelashes that is.

False eyelashes have evolved so much to the extent that many women wear them to make their eyes stand out.

Luckily, the current version of the falsies are a far cry from those that were worn by women in the seventies.

Whether it was a trend or fashion faux pas, those falsies were huge, gaudy and you can tell it is a fake a mile away. Now, the false eyelashes can look as natural as the real ones.

If you are inclined to try it, I mean the new version, here is how to wear falsies.

Full set lashes

Full set lashes will make your lashes look thick and lush.  You can also cut them up into individual lashes.

Individual lashes

Smaller clusters of individual lashes can be use to fill in your own eyelashes if there are gaps.

You can buy the falsies from beauty counters or costume jewelry and accessories shops as they are reasonably priced. You can use them a few times before discarding.

Or, if you prefer, you can always shop online.

False eyelashes that are too long

You can remedy this by trimming them at an angle.  Cut each lash at a different length so that they appear more natural.

Reserve the longer lashes for the outer corners of your eyes.

Preparation

1.  Before starting, remove any traces of makeup from your eyelids and lashes.

2.  Using a curler, curl your own lashes.  To make your lashes curl even more, you can warm the curler under a hair dryer for 3 seconds and check that the metal is not to hot for your eyes before curling.

3. Conceal the lash roots by applying a liquid or pencil eyeliner.

4. To apply individual lashes, squeeze a few drops of lash glue on a glass surface.  Allow it to dry for a minute.  Then use tweezers to lift up the eyelashes and dab the root in the glue.
  • Begin from the outer corner of the eyes.  Using tweezers,  insert the glued lash to your own lashes.
  • Position the lashes as close as possible to the root of your own lashes.Hold for a few seconds to dry.
  • Add more clusters to cover the gaps but allowing spaces between the lashes.
  • Maximum is 5 clusters or lesser to each eye.  Avoid adding to the inner corners of the eyes.

5.  To apply a full set,  use a toothpick to swipe a thin strip of glue along the base of the lashes.  Do not use your finger as it can get messy.  Wait for a few seconds for the glue to set.

  • With your fingers, hold the lashes and position it on the eyelid as close as possible to the roots beginning from the outer corner of the eye.  Slowly press it inwards.
  • If you find that the lashes are too long, remove and trim them.
  • Using a Q-tip or cotton bud, press lashes in.
6.  Wait for a few minutes for the glue to set.

Proceed to apply eyeshadow to mask the lines and mascara to blend the lashes with your real ones.

How to remove falsies after use

Always use an eye makeup remover and a piece of cotton pad to gently remove the mascara.  Then with your fingers, massage the remover into the false eyelashes.  It will come off easily.  Alternatively, you can try grape seed oil which is natural and just as effective.

If you did not apply any mascara, then splashing with water will also remove the fake eyelashes.
